Nigeria’s old national anthem lyrics (Sound Lyrics)

Nigeria’s old national anthem

Nigeria’s old national anthem lyrics which is now the new official anthem, was composed around 1959 – 1960 a time Nigeria gained independence from GBR (Great Britain) and also became Nigeria’s official anthem during 1960 to 1978, also you will like to know that, Arise oh compatriots was composed in 1978 and also became official, it was composed by Mr Benedict Odiase (LATE)

Before i share the sound and texts lyrics, here are my thoughts, (N/B:my thoughts are my personal opinion!

  • Why after, so many years it is our national anthem is what our present government finds faulty?
  • The former, which is now old and the old is now new (i mean ARISE O COMPATRIOTS’ lyrics) i liked it, it was the envy of other countries, as it goes well with band instruments and easy to mhyme and sing.
  • Its really a draw back, as some school, pupils, and students may find it difficult to cram.
  • Why is our government not considering, constitution amendment, at least it’s 25 yrs now, a constitution, that favour’s the elites alone, since founded 1999, why are they not considering a review (my thoughts)

Lyrics

Nigeria we hail thee,

Our own dear native land,

Though tribe and tongue may differ,

In brotherhood we stand,

Nigerians all, and proud to serve

Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol

That truth and justice reign,

In peace or battle honour’d,

And this we count as gain,

To hand on to our children

A banner without stain.

O God of all creation,

Grant this our one request,

Help us to build a nation

Where no man is oppressed,

And so with peace and plenty

Nigeria may be blessed.
