The UBA foundation, an arm of the
UBA group has anounced the comencement of its annual UBA ‘NEC’ in summary is national essay competition, the yearly competition which is the 11th edition started since 2011 exactly 11 yrs now, it’s targeted towards senior secondary students in Nigeria the great initiative which the foundation took upon it self, says it is aimed at promoting and encouraging the reading culture, with comprehensive and intellectual competition amongst secondary schools students in Nigeria and across Africa, the topic of this year is,

 *what is the role of ‘technology’ in educating the African youth

October 29th 2021.

Selection criteria and eligibility:
*candidates MUST be a secondary school student(senior) 
*MUST submit a hand written essay 750 words max
*MUST submit a passport photograph pinned to the copy of written essay 
*MUST submit a copy of birth certificate or a substitute which could be national ID or passport

Selection process:

Entries received for the competition will be reviewed by distinguished panel of judges made up of professors from reputable Nigerian universities who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessment.,
Following’, this a second round of the competition will involve the 12 finalists who will write a second supervised essay from which three best essays will be be selected as the overall winner winners from the 12 finalists emerged from the first round of the competition it is also ruled out by the organizers that all incomplete or double entries will be DISQUALIFIED, 
AWARDS:
Interestingly the cash prize for this year doubled up to 28% unlike previous and past competitions, this is to facilitate the adverse impact of the covid-19 says the now chief executive officer UBA foundation Mrs Bola Atta, it could be recalled that last year 1st prize was #2.5 million second place 2million while third place 1.5m, but this year saw an increase of up to 28% making 1st position to bag 3million and second position 2.5million while third position bag’s 2 million respectively, the three winners are to choose any university or tertiary institution of their choice in Africa all sponsored by the UBA foundation GoTo UBA RESOURCES PAGE
